Jerez participates in the meeting of candidate cities for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2031

<p>Jerez participated in the meeting convened by the Ministry of Culture in San Sebastián to provide information on the process of submitting candidacies for the European Capital of Culture 2031. Institutional representatives and experts/technicians from the nine cities that had already announced their intention to submit their candidacy: Jerez, Burgos, Cáceres, Oviedo, Toledo, Granada, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca, and Pamplona, ​​also attended. León, which has joined the competition, and Vitoria, which is considering joining, also attended.</p>

<p>The session took place in the plenary hall of San Sebastián City Hall and was attended by two representatives of the European Commission, who reviewed the selection criteria and discussed best practices from applications submitted in other countries and previous editions.</p>

<p>The team from the winning bid, San Sebastián 2016, also actively participated, sharing their experience and the impact they had on the city following their victory. Pascal Keiser, general coordinator of the Mons 2015 (Belgium) and Bourges 2028 (France) bids, shared a series of recommendations related to the application submission via an online link.</p>

<p>Representing the Jerez bid were the First Deputy Mayor, Agustín Muñoz, and the Culture Delegate, Francisco Zurita. The Spanish call for applications was published on December 27, and the deadline for submission is December 28, 2025.</p>
