Culture, flamenco, and gastronomy illuminate Jerez’s Christmas. A participatory, open, popular, and street-based celebration. With these ingredients, and just weeks before submitting its bid to become the European Capital of Culture in 2031, the city, with Mayor Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Garc\u00eda-Pelayo in attendance, officially inaugurated its Christmas lights this afternoon, marking the start of Christmas in Jerez.<\/p>\n\n

This year, the tenth anniversary of the declaration of the Flamenco Zambomba as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), the person in charge of pressing the button to switch on the lights, along with the mayor, was the flamenco artist Luis de Perik\u00edn. Hundreds of people enjoyed a unique moment and spectacle that showcases the singularity and cultural richness of our Christmas traditions to the world.<\/p>\n\n

In the coming weeks, thousands of people from all over Spain and the world will visit the city to participate in the Christmas celebrations in its streets and squares.<\/p>\n\n

The event was also attended by the Three Kings of 2026, Ana Bel\u00e9n Morillo, Juan Carlos Dur\u00e1n, and Antonio Ram\u00edrez, and Fernando Jim\u00e9nez as Royal Postman, as well as the president of the Three Kings Association, Gema Garc\u00eda Berm\u00fadez.<\/p>\n\n

The Christmas lights, which this year cover an area of 1,030,420 square meters, extend throughout the city’s various neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n
