The street is the stage for culture in Jerez, and its leitmotif is participation. This unique combination extends to all popular expressions and festivals throughout the year. At Christmas, we have the example of flamenco zambombas. Therefore, as part of the #Jerez2031 European Capital of Culture bid, we want to celebrate the Zambomba BIC tomorrow as an example of popular, participatory, and street culture.
Thus, the Jerez City Council and the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions have organized a new edition of the Zambomba BIC to commemorate, on this occasion, the fifteenth anniversary of the declaration of flamenco as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO and the tenth anniversary of the Zambomba’s designation as an Asset of Cultural Interest.
In Jerez, there’s no better way to celebrate this double anniversary than in the streets and with everyone. Let’s enjoy our popular and participatory culture. We’ll be waiting for you from 1:00 PM onwards in Plaza de la Asunción.
