Jerez unites diversity, culture, and art with the Diverso Festival

Jerez is once again demonstrating its commitment to culture, art, and diversity. This combination of concepts and priorities converges in the Diverso Jerez LGBTQAP+ Culture Festival, which is fully aligned with the city’s bid to become European Capital of Culture. From November 13th to 16th, the city will host a wide-ranging program of activities open to all citizens. Organized by the Jerelesgay association in collaboration with the Jerez City Council, the festival will take place in various public spaces and will feature film screenings, music, gastronomy, and more.

This event aims to promote diversity, inclusion, and respect for LGBTQAP+ people, while simultaneously reinforcing the city’s commitment to freedom and coexistence. Furthermore, the Festival is part of the support for Jerez’s bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2031, and aligns with the city’s strategy to promote culture as a tool for social transformation. Under the slogan “Diverso Jerez” (Diverse Jerez), its program combines artistic, gastronomic, and recreational activities with a participatory approach that aims to highlight the cultural richness of the LGBTQ+ community and break down stereotypes.

The events will begin on Thursday, November 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Palacio de Villapanés, with the screening of the short films “Luces del Arcoiris” (Rainbow Lights), “Talifanes” (Talifanes), by Nicolás Gutiérrez, and “Amo cada átomo de tu cuerpo” (I Love Every Atom of Your Body), by Alejandro Lobo, in a session presented by Minerva Lazangre. On Friday the 14th, at 8:30 p.m., the El Bujío café-bar will host a concert by Silvia Bouzo.

The program will begin on Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 AM with the “Market Pride” event at the Central Market, where Minerva Lazangre and Ecclesia will interact with the public before offering a live culinary experience. At 6:00 PM, in Plaza del Banco, the Peluquitas Fest will take place, organized in collaboration with the Pandora club, featuring Naomi Nattrix, Denna Citron, Minerva Lazangre, Ecclesia, Drag Mia, Alyssa Larisa, Rosse Diavalon, DJ Joseppe de Pueblo, Manuela Versace, Victoria Exótica, and Lola La Salvaora. The show will also include a performance by drag artist Onyx, due to her participation in the second season of Drag Race Spain.

On Sunday the 16th, Plaza Cruz Vieja will host the 1st Rainbow Gastronomic Route at 1:00 PM, a culinary event that combines flavors, creativity, and diversity. In the afternoon, at 4:30 p.m., the San Miguel en Tacones Free Tour Travesti will take place, a guided tour of the neighborhood’s most emblematic locations, led by Naomi Nattrix and Minerva Lazangre, which will blend humor, history, and activism.

The Diverso Jerez LGBTQIA+ Culture Festival is supported by the Jerez City Council’s Strategic Grants Plan and aims to continue advancing social awareness and eliminating all forms of discrimination.
