#Jerez2031 advances lines of collaboration with the European Capital of Culture candidates and artistic institutions in Malta

A delegation from the #Jerez2031 European Capital of Culture candidate held a schedule of working meetings this week with the technical and artistic teams of Victoria and Birgu 2031 and advanced collaborations with leading artistic representatives in the country to expand the international and European dimension of the candidate.

First, experts from the Technical Office of the #Jerez2031 bid held a meeting with the University of Malta, as well as with the leaders of the Valletta Design Cluster, with the aim of establishing lines of collaboration within the framework of leveraging the legacy of Valletta as the 2018 European Capital of Culture.

In this regard, a common strategy was advanced in various areas, such as training for the cultural sector, exploring future collaborations, and visiting various cultural infrastructures and services in the city linked to the Valletta 2018 agenda, events, and infrastructure: the Valletta Cultural Agency (VCA) – whose delegation was led by its chairman, Jason Micallef – and the Malta National Community Art Museum (MUZA), among others.

Likewise, the #Jerez2031 delegation, comprised of university experts in cultural programming and communication from the Technical Office, Antonio Javier González and Francisco Perujo, and funded through Erasmus+ mobility, also met with the Birgu2031 artistic team and held a meeting with the director of the Kreative Foundation (Fondazzjoni Kreattivitá) in Valletta, Malta, Rupert Cefai, to explore new European artistic partners.

On the island of Gozo, the #Jerez2031 delegation held various institutional and technical meetings with Victoria’s bid for European Capital of Culture 2031. Joint lines of collaboration were established to ensure that the cultural sectors of both cities are represented in their respective cultural programming. This agenda of contacts included a meeting with the Victoria 2031 artistic team, led by Austin Camilleri, and an institutional meeting with the Mayor of Victoria, Brian Azzopardi.
