Jerez participates in the SDG Lab group, an innovative methodology linked to the Sustainable Development Goals
#Jerez2031 continues to consolidate its bid for the title of European Capital of Culture with its active participation in the 14th CultureNext Conference, taking place from July 8 to 10 in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. Under the theme “Cultural Participation,” this edition focuses on the role of youth in future cultural policies.
Thus, a #Jerez2031 delegation, made up of representatives from the Technical Office of the Bid and the Jerez City Council, is participating in workspaces, coordination meetings, and exchange sessions with the other cities.
In this context, #Jerez2031 was the only Spanish city to participate in the SDG Lab group, which is working on a developing methodology aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in urban cultural policies. Involvement in this pioneering lab recognizes the city’s strategic and innovative approach to its candidacy, forming part of the Jerez 2031 strategic internationalization plan, which is committed to an open, sustainable culture that drives social transformation for all citizens.
Furthermore, this initiative presents new opportunities for collaboration and exchange with other European cities that share similar goals. Dialogue with cities that have held the title of European Capital of Culture, are in the process of applying, or are actively working to consolidate their legacy without achieving it, allows Jerez to learn from good practices, build strategic alliances, and share enriching experiences. A collaborative approach is essential for designing a solid, transformative project aligned with the shared values of European culture.
The Culture Next network, the organizer of this event, brings together more than 40 European cities firmly committed to culture as a driver of urban development, social cohesion, and democratic innovation. #Jerez2031 participates in this forum as a full member, reaffirming its integration into the main spaces for European cultural dialogue.
