#Jerez2031 presents the purpose of its candidacy for European Capital of Culture to the President of the European Parliament

In the words of the Mayor of Jerez, “we have taken our candidacy to the very heart of Europe and to the highest representative of the European Parliament, who has expressed interest in the #Jerez2031 proposal and in learning about its main strategic lines. We are very excited as the decisive moment approaches and our project gains momentum.”

In this regard, García-Pelayo noted that “the path we have undertaken to be candidates for Capital has already been worth it because it is bringing about a major transformation for the city, as culture has the effect of socially transforming territories.” He also noted that “we have garnered the support of the entire province, so we are not only representing Jerez in this Parliament but also the entire province of Cádiz, with its magnificent cultural diversity. We are the south of the south, and we have our own voice that has been heard in the heart of Europe.”

On another note, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Agustín Muñoz, also held a meeting with representatives of the Creative European Unit, Marie Imbert, and José Manuel Fernández Arroyo, who coordinate the candidacies for Capital of Culture in 2031.

This network of contacts and meetings is part of the #Jerez2031 strategy to strengthen alliances with European institutions, entities, and groups with the aim of strengthening the dissemination and international dimension of the candidacy. During these same days, a delegation from the candidacy is also participating in the 15th Culture Next Conference, being held from October 15 to 17 in Bielsko-Biala (Poland).
