The Culture and Business Coworking Space of the Jerez Chamber of Commerce became a meeting point today with We Make Cities Jerez for collective reflection on the future of the city. Throughout the morning, around thirty people from different cultural, social, and economic sectors participated in an intensive workshop on strategic challenges, creative methodologies, and new technological tools to imagine what Jerez will be like, and above all, what we want it to be like in the coming years.
In this way, We Make Cities Jerez has been configured as a citizen laboratory to rethink the city through urban design, strategic participation, and collective intelligence. Throughout the session, various urban challenges were proposed that invite creative reflection on mobility, public space, youth, culture, sustainability, digitalization, and tourism. Each group worked on one of these challenges with the goal of developing proposals that combine conceptual reflection, urban hypotheses, and speculative visualizations, supported by tools such as ChatGPT, MidJourney, and Sora.
The Lugadero team, an architectural firm based in Seville and London and coordinating the workshop, viewed this experience as an opportunity to activate different ways of thinking about the city. We Make Cities Jerez is an initiative promoted by the Jerez Chamber of Commerce and supported by the Jerez City Council through its Strategic Grants Plan, in coordination with the Technical Office of the #Jerez2031 European Capital of Culture bid.
