Jerez’s bid as the European Capital of Culture in 2031 takes a qualitative leap forward and opens up to the entire province of Cádiz to form a shared regional project. To articulate this proposal, the Provincial Council of Cádiz held a series of meetings at the Provincial Palace with city councils, chambers of commerce, and the University of Cádiz.

The objective of this initiative is to transform the #Jerez2031 European Capital of Culture bid process into a provincial proposal, embraced by society and its institutions in a territory that has been a cultural bridge between three continents (Europe, Africa, and America) and is an example of cultural fusion and social integration.

Along with the Chamber of Commerce, the University of Cádiz and the Jerez City Council, a total of 18 municipalities have participated in the call for proposals from the Provincial Council of Cádiz: Algeciras, Arcos, Cádiz, San Fernando, Algar, Benalup-Casas Viejas, Bornos, El Bosque, Castellar, Prado del Rey, San José del Valle, Setenil, Tarifa, Trebujena, Ubrique, Vejer and Villamartín, as well as various autonomous local entities in the municipality of Jerez, which already share the #Jerez2031 challenge.
