The Jerez City Council hosted today the meeting of the Special Plenary Commission on Capital City status, where the working group for the #Jerez2031 European Capital of Culture bid presented the strategic guidelines and main programs included in the bid book to representatives of the political groups of the Municipal Corporation. This meeting is noteworthy for its institutional value and allowed the various political groups to learn firsthand about the technical progress and milestones achieved in the province’s bid to attain the European title.
In this way, the #Jerez2031 bid continues to advance along its roadmap, focused on consolidating a solid, participatory proposal aligned with European values. The presentation of the bid book to the municipal groups represents another step in building a shared project that aspires to place Jerez de la Frontera on the European cultural map.
Representing the Municipal Government at the session was the Delegate for Culture, Major Events, Historical Heritage, and Capital City designation, Francisco Zurita; The Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Antonio Real, and the Councillor for Urban Planning, Belén de la Cuadra, were present. During the meeting, a detailed presentation was given on the main work undertaken by the institutions that make up the Governing Council: the Jerez City Council, the Cádiz Provincial Council, the University of Cádiz, and the Chamber of Commerce. A timeline of promotional activities at the local, provincial, national, and international levels was also presented.
The #Jerez2031 team emphasized that the entire technical document is the result of intensive work based on citizen participation, integrating the proposals and projects addressed throughout an open participatory process that is the driving force behind the bid. This presentation underscores the inclusive nature and governance of the work process.
Those involved in the commission’s development included the Director of the Presidency, Eva Antona, the Programming Coordinator, Antonio Javier González, the Head of Communication for the candidacy, Francisco Perujo, the Coordinator of Artistic Programming, Ramiro Villapadierna, and the Director of Technical Assistance for Daleph, Miguel Ballesteros.
