Tomorrow marks the start of the 30th Jerez Festival, further solidifying the city’s position as a global flamenco hub.

Jerez aspires to become the European Capital of Culture in 2031. Starting tomorrow, it will once again be the world capital of flamenco thanks to the 30th edition of the Jerez Festival. This international event promotes the values ​​of inclusion, diversity, and innovation of #Jerez2031 and brings together hundreds of people from over 30 different countries.

The Manuela Carpio Company’s performance will inaugurate the Festival tomorrow at 8:30 pm at the Villamarta Theatre. The festival boasts nearly 50 events and will fill various performance spaces, squares, and streets throughout the city with flamenco. This year’s program is especially aligned with the #Jerez2031 European Capital of Culture candidacy, which champions diversity and inclusion. It includes a specific program for people with disabilities, as well as new initiatives and spaces to encourage citizen participation and engagement with the city’s cultural stakeholders, such as the La Gotera Theatre in Lazotea.

Furthermore, this year the Jerez Festival has made an effort towards sustainability with a program to encourage sustainable mobility by providing special shuttle buses so that the public can easily access and enjoy the dance performances of Manuela Carpio, Olga Pericet, Nino de los Reyes, Andrés Marí, Ana Morales, Salomé Ramírez, Farru or the companies of Belén López and Julio Ruiz together with the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía and the Nuevo Ballet Español, or the singing and guitar playing of Mayte Martín, Arcángel, Lela Soto, Yerai Cortés, Santiago Lara or Ezequiel Benítez, among others.
