The #Jerez2031 Technical Office is embodied in the values of inclusion and cultural exchange of flamenco

A huge photomural depicting Jerez-born Romani singer María Terremoto now dominates the main façade of the #Jerez2031 Technical Office, European Capital of Culture 2031. Thus, the space from which the coordination work for the bid has been carried out is symbolically embodied in the image of inclusion and cultural exchange of flamenco.

The image, created by photographer Juan Carlos Toro, was installed over two intense days of work, using paper and neutral glue, as well as a special fixative to ensure its durability.

María Terremoto is a young singer, part of the Terremoto family, with significant national and international exposure. Currently, he is a leading figure in the most important national and international festivals, highlighting his performances in venues such as Mont de Marsan, Nîmes, New York, and Miami. He also directs the La Bulería Joven Festival in Jerez, all while combining this with the creation of what will be his second studio album.

Juan Carlos Toro is a photographer with extensive experience in photojournalism and the recovery of cultural heritage through art. Since 2016, he has led the Presencias Project, a series of photomurals dedicated to iconic figures of Jerez flamenco, such as Manuel Moneo, Juana la del Pipa, Diego Carrasco, and José de los Camarones, among others. His work has been recognized with awards such as the Juan Andrés García National Journalism Award and the CEC International Prize for Plastic Arts.
